Camp Opportunity Incorporated
Mission
Camp Opportunity provides a summer camp for children from the Baltimore area who have experienced abuse and/or neglect. Each child receives their own camp counselor for the week, leading to supportive, transformative relationships that can last long after camp is over. For the remainder of the year, interim activities are held with the campers to keep connected with their counselors. All services are of no-charge to the campers or their families.
Vision
Camp Opportunity envisions a world where every child who has experienced abuse or neglect knows their worth, believes in their potential, and has the tools to build a bright, successful future. By expanding our reach to serve more children across Maryland and strengthening our year-round programming, we aspire to break the cycle of trauma and replace it with resilience, connection, and hope. Our goal is to empower each child we serve to grow into confident, compassionate adults who know they are valued and capable of creating change in their communities.
Goals
- 1.Camp Opportunity is committed to growing our impact by reaching more children who can benefit from our unique 1:1 camper-to-counselor model and year-round support. Our goal is to add additional weeks of summer camp and expand our year-round programming so that more children have the opportunity to build confidence, develop resilience, and experience positive, lasting relationships.
- 2.We are committed to growing our year-round programs so that children continue to feel supported and connected long after their week at camp ends. Such as well-attended monthly virtual cabin sessions, additional seasonal gatherings, and additional care package mailings.
- 3.To ensure Camp Opportunity can continue to grow and serve more children, we are focused on strengthening our organizational capacity. This includes investing in staff development, enhancing volunteer recruitment and training, expanding our fundraising efforts, and improving our operational systems.
