Building Bridges Across the River provides residents east of the Anacostia River access to the best-in-class facilities, programs and partnerships in arts and culture, economic opportunity, education, recreation, health and well-being.

Our vision is a future where every resident east of the Anacostia River has access to the resources they need to thrive, fostering a more equitable and inclusive city.

Goals

1.Ground our work in the community by investing time and energy in meaningful engagement with local residents. This includes hosting annual town halls, establishing a community advisory committee to help shape programming, and strengthening collaboration with THEARC partners.
2.To open and begin operating the 11th Street Bridge Park, creating jobs for Park staff and opportunities for small businesses in the creative economy. Through the Community Preservation Plan, we will expand affordable, accessible housing to ensure residents can stay and thrive in place.
3.We intend to explore opportunities to expand the offerings at Skyland Workforce Center and create a comprehensive workforce development hub for residents east of the Anacostia River. In response to an evolving workforce landscape, we intend to explore partnership opportunities in order to provide trainings in new industries as well as education on topics such as digital literacy, A.I., and more.
