Mission

THE MISSION OF THE WASHINGTON LITERACY CENTER IS TO RAISE THE LITERACY LEVEL OF ADULTS IN WASHINGTON, DC SUCH THAT THEY MAY FUNCTION ON THE JOB, IN THE FAMILY AND IN SOCIETY. PROGRAM OFFERINGS HAVE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE DIGITAL, WOPRKPLACE, MATH, FINANCIAL AND HEALTH LITERACY.

1.Our short-term goals are focused on expanding our Jump Start program to support young adults who have experienced numerous setbacks with their education and mental health.
2.We're working to expand the number of learners we teach to keep vulnerable families from being left even further behind.
3.We have five new 8-10 week courses that teach workforce skills, plus math, financial and digital literacy. Our goal is to broaden our programs to teach a higher level of practical workforce skills.
