National Foundation for Credit Counseling Inc.
Mission
Founded in 1951, the National Foundation for Credit Counseling® (NFCC®) is the nation's first and largest nonprofit dedicated to improving people's financial well-being. As the nation's longest serving nonprofit financial counseling membership organization, NFCC members have played a key role in providing financial, credit, housing, and more recently student loan counseling, as well as asset building and educational services to consumers for more than 60 years. With 51 member agencies, nearly 300 offices and almost 1,100 NFCC Certified Consumer Credit Counselors throughout the country, the NFCC serves as the national voice for its members, which are all 501(c)(3) nonprofit, mission-driven, community-based agencies. Since 2008, NFCC members have provided quality financial counseling and education services to over 15 million clients nationwide. The NFCC and its members are recognized as nonprofit leaders in financial counseling and education and as consumer financial advocates, based upon its rigorous Member Quality and Certification Standards.
Vision
We work to improve financial futures for anyone seeking aid. Regain control of your finances and connect with a nonprofit, certified credit counselor today.
Goals
- 1.The NFCC operates across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. However, we are sometimes considered "the best kept secret in personal finance". Nonprofit credit counseling should be more widely utilized and we are actively working to improve our national profile by expanding access to our counseling programs.
- 2.The NFCC is committed to meeting people where they are. Accordingly, we are improving our technical reach by piloting AI integration on our website, and expanding online counseling options. We are also working to diversify our funding sources to increase the sustainability of our counseling programs.
- 3.NFCC credit and housing counseling form the core of our nonprofit work, and we anticipate increased need in these areas through 2025. We are furthering our program offerings in these areas by partnering with GSEs, refining core programs, and improving our counseling model.
