Americans United for Separation of Church and State

Mission

Americans United for Separation of Church and State is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit educational and advocacy organization that brings together people of all religions and none to protect the right of everyone to believe as they want - and stop anyone from using their beliefs to harm others. We fight in the courts, legislatures, and the public square for freedom without favor and equality without exception.

Vision

We envision a nation where everyone can freely choose a faith and support it voluntarily, or follow no religious or spiritual path at all, and where government does not promote religion over non-religion or favor one faith over another.

Goals

1.Leverage AU’s leadership role to ensure our nation’s laws are enforced, as well as regulations that protect the principle of church-state separation and religious freedom.
2.Support a strong and effective network of influential voices across the country on church-state separation and religious freedom.
3.Mobilize Americans who share AU’s core mission and are natural allies in the formation of a broad-based national movement to ensure religious freedom.
