The DC History Center deepens understanding of our city's past to connect, empower, and inspire.

Vision

As the only community-based nonprofit focused on the District’s history, our vision is to engage with neighborhoods across DC and elevate the stories of Washington’s diverse people, communities, and institutions.

Goals

1.Onboard National History Day as a major new K-12 program. DC History Center is now the local affiliate for this national program, leading a city-wide effort to provide access to relevant resources and content experts for students as they research, revise their work, and connect it to the year’s theme.
2.Deliver a new exhibition, Class Action: The Fight for Equal Education in the Nation's Capital
3.Pilot a neighborhood-focused community engagement project in Hillcrest (ward 7) and Woodridge (ward 5)
