Mission

The Roanoke Valley SPCA is a community resource that provides pet adoption, retention, and education services in Virginia's Blue Ridge. <br> Since 1916, the Roanoke Valley SPCA has made the welfare of homeless and unwanted animals a priority and in 1958 the RVSPCA became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to be a community resource that provides pet adoption, retention, and education services in Virginia's Blue Ridge. We believe people will make good decisions for animals when they are treated with kindness and understanding, and when they have enough information and resources. Our programs focus on three impact areas - adoption, humane education programs, and pet safety-netservices. <br><br>

To have a community where animal welfare is valued and demonstrated leading to positive outcomes for animals and people.

Goals

1.We believe that pets and people belong together. We will work to create a welcoming open adoptions process that removes barriers to adoption and focuses on matching the right animal to the right household. By increasing adoptions, we are able to help even more animals each year.
2.With a committed, unwavering focus on effecting change for the betterment of animals, develop and deploy humane education programs that teach compassion, empathy, and understanding and highlight the impact of the human-animal bond.
3.As progressive, forward-thinking leaders in the advancement of animal welfare, develop and deploy pet safety-net programs to help ensure pets remain in their homes with the guardians who love them. This includes, veterinary care and behavioral assistance funding, pet deposit assistance, a pet food pantry, temporary fostering, and other crisis intervention services.
