Mission

The mission of Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) is to inspire compassion for all living beings, to provide shelter to animals in need, and to promote adoptions, animal welfare, and responsible pet ownership in our community. The AWLA is an animal sheltering and welfare organization focused on community responsiveness, professional animal care, dynamic education, compatible adoptions and a philosophy of compassion in all we do. We offer animal adoptions, free and low cost vaccinations and microchips, a pet food pantry, low cost/spay neuter, veterinary expense assistance, educational camps and school programs; and provide animal services (including wildlife) and control for the City of Alexandria.

No more homeless animals in the City of Alexandria, and no family in Alexandria forced to relinquished a beloved pet due to economic difficulties.

Goals

1.Ensure no family in the City of Alexandria is forced to relinquish a beloved pet due to economic difficulties.
2.Assist as many organizations working in low resource areas as possible to ensure no healthy, adoptable animal is being euthanized.
3.Effectively communicate our programs and services to ensure families in need are aware of our program offerings.
