Vision

Common Ground Childcare envisions a future where every child in our community has access to high-quality, nurturing early education, regardless of their family’s income. We aspire to create a model of equity and excellence in early learning where teachers are valued, supported, and compensated as the professionals they are, and where families can thrive knowing their children are safe, engaged, and inspired to grow.

Goals

1. 1.Our goal is to get every single employee at Common Ground up to the livable hourly wage for a single person without children in Fairfax County, Virginia as defined by the MIT living wage database. This is a lofty goal as early childhood education is traditionally only parent funded, and thus, underfunded.
2. 2.By focusing on teachers wages first, that is actually an investment into the quality of our program. Quality interactions between the adult care givers in children's lives are the best predictor of educational success. Thus the investment into our teachers, is an investment into our children
3. 3.We would like to then teach other centers how to replicate what we do to help elevate the entire early childhood educational system.
