Mission

Seniors First, The Shenandoah Area Agency on Aging is a non-profit organization providing high-quality services and opportunities to enhance the dignity and independence of seniors and promote their contributions to the community. Serving the Counties of Clarke, Frederick, Page, Shenandoah, Warren, and the City of Winchester, our services enable older adults to remain living in their own home for as long as safely possible, rather than go into a nursing facility.

Vision

We envision a future where seniors are celebrated as vital, dynamic contributors to our community—where aging is not a limitation, but an opportunity for continued growth, engagement, and independence. By providing innovative, compassionate services, we enable older adults to thrive in their own homes, maintaining their dignity, autonomy, and meaningful connections.

Goals

1.Currently looking into the possibility of increasing our senior center locations. This expansion will help to address the social isolation factor that exist among our senior population.
2.We have launched an Options Counseling program to help seniors better self-manage, a Checking Program for at-home safety, and a Repair and Renovation Program to help seniors stay in their home as long as possible.
3.Taking steps to improve our infrastructure will benefit our service outcomes in the long run due to better efficiency.
