Mission

The Science Museum of Western Virginia, chartered in 1970, exists to make science and technology accessible to all people by providing hands-on exhibits and galleries, offering a variety of innovative programs, preserving and displaying collections to stimulate and enhance learning. Exhibits such as The Butterfly Garden, Healthy Bodies Gallery, Open Lab, and Children's Curiosity Corner create a welcoming atmosphere that stimulate curiosity and wonder.
