Vision

Our mission is to teach low-income, low-literate adults English reading, writing, and speaking skills. We envision a future where low-income adults are empowered through English literacy to achieve their goals, navigate healthcare with confidence, advocate for their families, and secure stable employment—enabling them to fully participate, contribute, and prosper in the communities in which they live.

Goals

1. 1.As a response to increasing demand for ESL instruction, workforce development, and health navigation skills, LVA-PW will expand our English language instruction, health literacy, digital literacy, and job readiness classes to support adult immigrants as they work toward economic stability, improved health outcomes, and fuller participation in community life.
2. 2.Our goal is to increase investment in financial capacity to sustain and expand our program. LVA-PW leverages grants alongside other funding sources to maximize impact, ensure fiscal responsibility, and sustain tuition free classes for adult learners. Investment offsets essential program costs, instructional materials, and targeted outreach to expand services in the community.
3. 3.Since 35% of residents report speaking a language other than English at home, LVA-PW’s goal is to elevate literacy and health literacy as critical equity issues. We will amplify adult learner voices, promote clear and accessible information, and advocate for systems that reduce language barriers—advancing equitable access to healthcare, employment, and essential services for immigrant families.
