    THE PURPOSE OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO MAINTAIN AN ASSOCIATION OF PERSONS INTERESTED IN LIBRARIES, TO FOCUS PUBLIC ATTENTION ON THE LIBRARY, TO PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, PROMOTE READING GROUPS AND AUTHOR EVENTS, TO RECEIVE AND ENCOURAGE GIFTS, ENDOWMENTS, AND BEQUESTS TO THE LIBRARY, AND TO SUPPORT AND COOPERATE WITH THE LIBRARY IN DEVELOPING PATRON'S SERVICES WITHOUT INFRINGING UPON THE RIGHTS AND DUTIES OF THE DIRECTOR OF THE LIBRARY OR THE LIBRARY BOARD.
