Facing Hunger

Mission

Facing Hunger Foodbank is a private, nonprofit, charitable organization founded in 1983 and is incorporated in West Virginia. Formerly known as the Huntington Area Food Bank, the foodbank initially served Cabell and Wayne Counties. The need was so great across the region that the foodbank expanded its service area after just its first year of operation. The foodbank's service area currently includes nearly 240 agencies across 17 counties in West Virginia, eastern Kentucky and southeastern Ohio.

Goals

1.Facing Hunger Food Bank will develop programming and services that are responsive to the health and well being of the communities we serve, emphasizing good health and nutrition.
2.Facing Hunger Food Bank will maintain good stewardship of our programs and services to ensure that there are no barriers to access of needed resources.
3.Facing Hunger Food Bank will invest in internal resources to provide confidence to those who support our work for our data collection, inputs & outputs. Our accuracy and accountability is transparent.
