Mission

Founded in 1981, Discovery Place is dedicated to inspiring exploration of the natural and social world through extraordinary exhibits and educational programs that inform, challenge and engage audiences of all ages. Discovery Place operates Discovery Place and Charlotte Nature Museum, and is developing a children's museum, Discovery Place KIDS. As one of the leading hands-on science centers in the country, Discovery Place offers visitors the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the basics of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in a fun, interactive and informal setting. Discovery Place KIDS is a children's museum under development providing an extraordinary and rich play experience that engages children's imagination and inspires learning, the Museum is designed to serve children and their parents or caregivers.
