The Families First Services Protection Act is a piece of federal legislation that is changing the fundamental nature of service delivery in Child Welfare. CHCC has collaborated with our provider network to advocate for service protections to offset the unintended consequences of the legislation on children and families in our communities and State. We invested in and deployed new screening tools to help identify children who are at-risk of sex-trafficking, and interventions to help those children protect themselves against sexual predators. We have also begun raising funds to expand our services to youth aging-out of foster care to help them make a successful transition to full independence and avoid the negative and life-shortening outcomes that over 90% of these youth experience.
