Mission

Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity of Orange County brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Our vision is an Orange County where everyone has a decent place to live. Since its founding in 1984, Habitat has built over 350 new homes in Orange County, and has repaired over 250 homes. Habitat provides homeownership opportunities to households who live and/or work in Orange County, earn between 30% and 80% of the area median income, and are living in housing that is inaccessible, overcrowded, subsidized, substandard, unaffordable, and/or unsafe. Households contribute 275 hours of sweat equity towards the construction of their own homes and their neighbors' homes. They attend educational workshops to prepare them for homeownership, and purchase their homes from Habitat through affordable mortgages.

Goals

1.OBJECTIVE: Increase impact by building more homes. GOALS: Build at least 140 new homes, Complete 200 repairs for low-income homeowners in Orange County, Provide timely construction support for all Habitat homebuyers and homeowners
2.OBJECTIVE: Deepen impact by strengthening communities GOALS: Close at least 140 loans and maintain lower than HUD’s annual average delinquency rates, Research and develop assessment(s) to monitor satisfaction within Habitat neighborhoods, Measure key quality-of-life indicators and identify opportunities for improvement, Increase the number of Foundational Black families approved for homeownership
3.OBJECTIVE: Maximize impact by promoting policies and systems that advance housing opportunity GOALS: Increase government funding by 5% to secure at least $3.9 million, Influence public policy and regulations that impact housing access, affordability, and land use, Expand advocacy engagement to educate and mobilize supporters
