Mission

Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) builds the foundation for the rapid adoption of clean energy and energy efficiency to benefit people, the economy and our planet. Our collective vision is a 100% clean energy future that is reliable, resilient, and equitable. IREC differentiates itself from many other groups working in the clean energy sector through the complementary nature of our three distinct, but closely related program areas: State Regulatory Engagement, Workforce Development, and Local Initiatives (focused on community-level clean energy adoption).

Goals

1.Distributed energy resources (DERs - i.e., clean energy projects) support an inclusive, equitable, electrified, and decarbonized energy system; provide benefits to customers, the energy system, and the environment; and have fair and equitable access to the distribution system (i.e., the electric grid).
2.Clean energy companies can attract and retain a diverse and qualified workforce. Workers have quality career opportunities in clean energy.
3.Communities have the capacity and tools needed to realize 100% clean energy and receive the benefits locally.
