What are this organization’s external mobilizaton efforts?
The organization has collaborations and partnerships with other local organizations. We are afflicted with the Mentor Network as well as Big Brothers Big Sisters of America both Nationally and at the State Level. and on the state level. The agency is raising awareness of the need for youth mentoring through social media, public speaking, and local advertising. We advocate for children and youth to provide volunteer mentors who work one-to-one with a child or youth to meet needs in a variety of ways including in the community, at local schools, and through digital mentoring. In fact, the agency was involved in mentoring research that examined best practices in digital mentoring. Our Vice President of Programs spoke on this topic at a recent conference. The Organization additionally work with local business to provide Career and work mentoring experiences for hundreds of youth.

Big Brothers Big Sisters continues to perfect one–to–one mentoring programs; we are practiced in implementing and growing innovative programs and partaking in national research studies that have contributed to evidence-based knowledge on mentoring. The pandemic created the need for the agency to provide digital mentoring to keep kids connected. Big Brothers Big Sisters was and remains uniquely positioned to provide personalized out-of-school, virtual support, and our mentors continue to serve as a vital source of consistency and connection.
We continue to stay relevant by using a variety of mentoring opportunities that appeal to diverse populations and increase community outreach and diversity practices. In the 2021-22 fiscal year we have added literacy and sports mentoring programs. These program options are a digitally based Literacy Mentoring program for third to fifth-grade children and the Sports Buddies Program which is geared to engage male mentors and boys in sports-related activities. The agency is determined to stay ahead of the curve to continue to provide new and innovative ways to bring mentoring to all children and youth in Palm Beach and Martin Counties.
Each year Big Brothers Big Sisters provides hundreds of volunteer mentors to Palm Beach and Martin County kids. Our families, youth, and volunteer mentors come from varied and diverse backgrounds. They routinely complete surveys and provide feedback on their participation. Providing valuable insight into mentoring and what local kids want for themselves. The agency has recently automated all its applications and surveys for easy access from a computer or phone. We have gone to cloud-based services to enable our staff to bring clients through inquiry, enrollment, matching, and match support. This created a streamlined process and eliminated the need for hard-copy documentation.
