Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga

Mission

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area is a locally organized and governed nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization that has been building simple, decent and affordable homes in Chattanooga, Tennessee, since 1986. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga partners with volunteers and low income families to build affordable housing. The houses are sold to these families at no profit and with no interest. As part of its ministry, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga also operates the ReStore, a building materials store featuring building materials and some home goods, at up to 50-75% off retail. Proceeds from the store support Habitat's ongoing work in the construction of more homes for people in need in our area.

Goals

1.In order to address the land scarcity issues in Chattanooga, we are developed a townhome model where we can fit more families on a plot land versus the traditional single family housing model we've had previously. In 2025, we plan to begin construction on a 24 townhome project.
2.We are hiring a Chief Operating Officer for the first time who will oversee the ReStore, Family Services, and Construction department. This will allow our CEO to focus more on bigger picture things and increase our capacity significantly.
3.We have expanded our critical home repair by hiring an Intake Specialist and Critical Home Repair manager on top of the staff we already have. We expect over the next two and half years that our numbers of projects completed will twice what it is today.
