    Service Over Self

    Mission

    Service Over Self exists to glorify God by proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ in underserved neighborhoods through home repair and leadership development. This mission is accomplished primarily in three ways:<br>1) Volunteer home repair camps: SOS recruits volunteers to make critical home repairs for homeowners in two low-income neighborhoods in Memphis, TN. Since it's inception in 1986, SOS has repaired more than 1,000 homes with more than 25,000 volunteers.<br>2) SOS Builds - an after school construction training program for youth: SOS mentors students from our partner neighborhoods through a construction based program.<br>3) SOS Academy - a one-year community development residency for young adults.
