    Mission

    Founded in 1868, the mission of Presbyterian Home for Children (PHFC) is to be a faith-based beacon of hope, transforming the lives of children, young adults, and families. Our vision is a world in which every individual we serve finds peace, safety, and healing; has access to transformative education; and is empowered to reach their full potential. PHFC is headquartered on an 85-acre campus in Talladega, Alabama, and is available to serve individuals and families who need assistance from every county in the state. Presbyterian Home for Children is accredited by EAGLE (Educational Assessment Guidelines Leading toward Excellence); PHFC's school, Ascension Leadership Academy, is Cognia accredited. Additionally, PHFC is pleased to have received recognition as a Top-Rated Nonprofit by GreatNonprofits five years in a row from 2020 through 2024. In 2022, PHFC achieved the Gold Seal of Transparency from Candid and has consistently maintained this level of transparency each year since.
