Vision

Dumas Wesley takes a uniquely holistic and relationship-centered approach to addressing poverty, homelessness, and inequity. While many organizations offer temporary fixes, our approach is built on the belief that true change happens when you address the whole person and the entire family unit over an extended period of time. Dumas Wesley offers an interconnected system of care that includes transitional housing, youth enrichment, senior wellness, emergency services, job readiness programs, food, clothing, and transportation. Our programs don’t operate in silos; they are intentionally interconnected to support the whole person and foster long-term stability. For 123 years, our model has been grounded in accountability, equity, and sustainability. We walk alongside each individual, honoring their potential and investing in their journey. This deep-rooted, community-driven method is what makes Dumas Wesley not just a service provider, but a catalyst for generational change.

Goals

1. 1.Whether it’s working to provide access to reliable transportation to homeless women and children, leading community initiatives to address gaps in childcare services or scaling services for unique populations like seniors, when needs arise we’re a first responder for vulnerable populations.
2. 2.Dumas Wesley is helping inform practical, survivor-centered policy solutions in Alabama. This work reflects our broader commitment to advocacy—using real client experiences to identify systemic gaps, mobilize stakeholders, and drive meaningful, protective change at the state level.
3. 3.In 2023, Dumas Wesley expanded its footprint to serve Baldwin County when it was revealed that 254 school-aged children were homeless (Baldwin County Public School System). At the Baldwin Family Village, women and children are supported by programs that equip them to heal, grow, and rebuild independent lives.
