    Heart of Alabama Food Bank

    Mission

    Since 1986, Heart of Alabama Food Bank (formerly Montgomery Area Food Bank) has nourished the hungry by educating & mobilizing the community, engaged in partnerships to advance self-sufficiency, and gathered/distributed assistance throughout 35 Alabama counties. We work with municipal, state and national organizations like, Feeding America, Alabama's Department of Public Health, USDA and FEMA. HAFB is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) fighting hunger & food insecurity by operating outreach programs targeting demographics most susceptible to food insecurity and unhealthy outcomes, while reaching out to more than children, seniors, veterans, newly unemployed, working poor, homeless and disaster victims. Through our more than 200 partner agencies we experience an extended reach to a 12-county area served directly out of our facility. Last Fiscal Year we distributed more than 27 million pounds of vital assistance.
