Mission

Better Basics works to eradicate illiteracy among children in Central Alabama. We deliver reading and math instruction and resources to empower the educationally vulnerable.<br>Incorporated in 1993, we provide programs and resources to children from birth through 12th grade.<br>In the 2023-24 school year, Better Basics served 31,950 children, gave away over 162,000 books to at-risk children, and deployed 820 volunteers.
