Mission
The Dan Marino Foundation mission is to empower individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. Founded in 1992 by Dan and Claire Marino after their son Michael’s diagnosis, the Foundation helped establish the Nicklaus Children’s Dan Marino Outpatient Center and the Marino Autism Research Institute to advance autism treatment and research. Notable past initiatives include Marino Campus, an accredited postsecondary program, and VITA-DMF, a 3D simulation-based job interview tool developed with USC’s Institute for Creative Technologies. The Foundation incorporates cutting-edge technologies, such as virtual reality, AI, and assistive tools into programs like Ready2Be, enhancing education, vocational training, and social skills. Hub2Connect builds on this by providing personalized support for independent living, employment, and personal growth. - 1.The Hub2Connect Program supports individuals with autism through in-person mentorships, experiential learning, and tech tools. It addresses underemployment, isolation, and independent living by fostering a connected community. A central app links users to jobs, training, mentors, and events, offering tailored support and promoting inclusion and personal growth.
- 2.Florida Ready: Practice real-world interviews with a virtual avatar tailored to Florida’s job market. Each session is recorded for review, helping students improve responses, build confidence, and track progress. Self-scoring promotes accountability. Accessible anytime on mobile, it’s a simple, low-pressure way to prep for success.
- 3.DMF-ACE is an immersive, evidence-informed training program that equips businesses, frontline professionals, and public agencies with the skills and confidence to engage respectfully with autistic individuals—as customers, coworkers, and community members—through workshops, real-life interaction, and a forthcoming virtual reality component.
