St. Matthew's House

Mission

St. Matthew's House is growing to ensure that no one experiencing hunger, homelessness or addiction is alone or without a pathway for their journey from crisis to contributor. Together with our partners and participants, we cultivate communities where people are progressively seen, accepted, challenged, and supported. What began as a modest soup kitchen over 30 years ago has grown into a comprehensive continuum of care designed to empower individuals for a life of self-sufficiency. Today, St. Matthew's House operates a soup kitchen, mobile food pantry, emergency and transitional housing facilities, substance abuse recovery programs, and employment training initiatives. To generate revenue for our work and jobs for our residents, St. Matthew's House developed an innovative social enterprise model, which includes eight thrift stores, a catering company, a restaurant, and a hotel & conference center. These businesses fund nearly 50% of our operating budget and help cover administrative costs so that donations can go directly to support our life-changing programs.
