Method for Attributing Outcomes
We don't know if the observed changes were caused by the nonprofit's program or something else happening at the same time (e.g., a participant got a raise). To determine causation, we take the outcomes we observe and subtract an estimate of the outcomes that would have happened even without the program (i.e., counterfactual outcomes).
We estimate the dollar amount of financial assistance attributable to the nonprofit by comparing the financial assistance given by the nonprofit to the financial assistance that would have been provided in the absence of the nonprofit (the “counterfactual”). In this case, we estimate the counterfactual to be zero based on two assumptions. First, we assume there is functionally no upper limit to the amount of cash transfers that continue to be valuable to patients as they are far from reaching the point of diminishing marginal returns, such that aid provided by one nonprofit does not displace aid provided by another. Second, we assume that nonprofits work independently and do not coordinate the provision of aid to the same patient. As a result, all aid provided by the nonprofit to patients with medical conditions can be directly attributable to the nonprofit.

Alexia Rodriguez our Chief Executive Officer recently underwent 2 full days of CLE (Continuing Legal Education) training to maintain her license to practice as an Attorney in the state of Texas. The name of the training is Governance of Non-Profit Organizations. She completes this course annually. Our entire team is currently virtually participating in The Bold Training for Non-Profit Boards & Staff offered by Dan Pallota. We plan to expand upon the internal leadership development plans in the upcoming year.

We currently support 3 organizations each year with 10% of our contributions received. In 2021 through our tithing program, we supported MD Anderson Cancer Research Center, Homes for Our Troops, & Ryan's Well. We strategically partner with KW Kids Can to support the KW family at large. This allows us to serve our individual missions, with a shared goal of helping our KW Family when they need it most. With KWKC, KW associates, & KWRI, we offer a Cultural Summit & a Cultural Ambassador training. We present at and host an informational booth at KW conferences which occur bi-annually. Here we share information about what we do, how to get involved, among the impact KW Cares has on many lives. We continue to provide resources and information about recent disastrous events. This year, we have increased our reach through email marketing, social media, & youtube to raise awareness of our mission, cause, & impact. We plan to build upon this foundation to increase our reach.
The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
Last year, our team adapted to external changes due to the overwhelming growth in the real estate industry. This growth brought KW Cares an increase in generous contributions which afforded us the opportunity to accomplish several milestones. These milestones include offering more financial assistance than we projected, investing in our infrastructure, establishing a strategic plan, focusing on increasing awareness of KW Cares' resources, investing in marketing efforts to grow our impact, and completing our annual audit with zero deficiencies. You can find additional information about our milestones in our annual report. These accomplishments in 2021 are credited to the entire Keller Williams Family.The generosity and support of our donors are what empowers KW Cares to bring peace of mind to those facing some of the most difficult circumstances of their lives. We truly believe when it comes to caring for each other, our KW Family is unmatched.
