New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation Inc.

    Mission

The New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation (NOPJF) has a 30-year history of successful public/private partnerships forged to make New Orleans a safer place to live, work and visit. In 1995, concerned New Orleans residents and business leaders formed the Police Foundation to address an unprecedented surge in violence. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the Foundation expanded its focus, officially changing its name to the New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation. Today, New Orleans leads the nation in crime reduction. At the center of it – the NOPJF - quietly and methodically working behind the scenes. From the Pennington Plan of 1995 to the Teneo Recommendations of 2025, the NOPJF’s efforts have fueled every major era of crime reduction in New Orleans. NOPJF works to address myriad issues that impact public safety, and the women and men of the New Orleans Police Department, including technology and training to enhance NOPD’s operational and investigative capacity, improving officer morale for retention, and cultivating police/community relations. A safer city requires an active, engaged, and informed citizenry that is affirmatively anti-crime. NOPJF works to put public safety tools in the hands of the public, helping citizens effectively collaborate with the criminal justice system and ensuring that criminal justice services are delivered equitably across our many diverse neighborhoods. NOPJF programs reflect the ethos of our organization: efficient, effective, and accountable.
