How COVID-19 impacted the organization's operations financially:
Our main fundraiser is an in person fashion show that the entire community rallies behind. Due to covid restrictions, we were unable to host our indoor event. We lost approximately 30k worth of income.
How COVID-19 impacted the organization's delivery of programs:
The agency delivers on the education portion of our mission through group support. With covid restrictions in place, our groups were dismantled for safety of staff and clientele. This limited our ability to really impact clients lives with information to help them make different choices.
How this organization adapted to changing conditions caused by COVID-19:
We invested in telecommunication tools, we were able to adjust some employees ability to work outside of the agency, and we made major changes to our shelter to prevent an outbreak of any viral disease.
Innovations the organization intends to continue permanently after the pandemic:
We have continued to use telecommunication tools when relevant, we have returned to some in-person meetings for morale purposes. We also shifted several positions to another location and will remain there.

The state offers additional certifications for advocates to become leaders in the field of domestic violence and sexual assault. This training requires months of commitment from the agency and the advocates. The end results are advocates that are expert witnesses, capable of training other younger advocates, and exceptional candidates to move forward in any non-profit agency. We have fostered 5 advocates through this process since October 2020.

Our agency has continued to develop their program for social media outreach to our small community. This as well as partnering with other local tribal domestic violence programs has allowed us to really reach all community members - both survivors and supporters.
The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
A majority of our external changes have been positive within the last year. A lot of legislative changes at the state level have allowed our agency to make more effective impact with justice-involved survivors. Our legal advocates were quick to seek out understanding the changes in statute, adapt their program accordingly, and make sure this information was relayed to other relevant parties. Making sure we engaged other agencies was a primary goal for us to help prevent pushback against survivors in our community
