The organization has invested in multiple opportunities for continuing education and development of all professional staff as well as learning opportunities for all volunteers. Staff are encouraged to allot time during their existing work schedule for leadership development. Also gathers for an annual retreat that includes this as a focus.

The organization engages in strategic partnerships with our state and regional nonprofit associations. We participate in higher education networks that address issues of college access & affordability as well as leadership development and community impact. We raise awareness of the mission and the broader cause of higher education access common leadership development and community impact through print and digital marketing, storytelling projects and impact stories. Staff volunteer their time with high school groups addressing issues of higher education access and community.

In 2020 the organization went through a merger with another organization resulting in one stronger unified entity. The merger led to significant changes in staffing, program execution, board leadership, and day-to-day operations. After significant staffing changes, the Board of Directors then went through a major strategic planning process in 2022, resulting in an updated set of priorities and goals. The organization has also undergone significant infrastructure transformation - streamlining and digitizing its staffing & processes so that more resources go directly to programs.
