United Way of South Texas

Mission

Founded in 1979, United Way of South Texas works to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our community to advance the common good. We assist agencies with funding needed to provide services throughout the community, focusing on impacting community needs such as homelessness, after school programs, services for the elderly, emergency shelters, health issues, transportation, and prevention of child abuse and neglect. We will build and promote partnerships that maximize resources through a coordinated effort that unites people of Hidalgo and Starr Counties in Texas and to award grants to address health, financial stability, and education issues.

3.Expand the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program to include finance literacy education tools to at least 50% of the projected 3,250 families served.
