Mission

Established in 1981, the Central Texas Food Bank (CFTB; formerly the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas) provides food and grocery products to people in need in 21 Central Texas counties covering 19,604 square miles. The mission of the Central Texas Food Bank is to increase food access in Central Texas by providing nutritious food; leading hunger and poverty advocacy efforts; and transforming lives through programs, education, and innovative solutions. CTFB partners with 250 community-based organizations across Central Texas, providing 75% of the food these organizations distribute in their respective communities. CTFB also operates direct distribution, meal service, workforce training, and education programs in the community. In 2025, CTFB distributed more than 75 million pounds of food.
