    The Cibolo Center for Conservation

    Mission

The Cibolo Center for Conservation (The Cibolo) promotes the conservation of nature through stewardship, education, and community connections. Founded in 1988 as The Friends of Cibolo Wilderness, the organization started as a grassroots efforts to clean up the Cibolo Creek. Today, The Cibolo has emerged as a leader in regional conservation, outdoor recreation, community engagement, and environmental education in Texas’s rapidly growing Hill Country. Situated in Boerne, Texas, The Cibolo spans two adjacent campuses: the 100-acre Cibolo Nature Center and the 66-acre historic Herff Farm. Together, they offer miles of trails, five distinct ecosystems, and safeguard the delicate Cibolo Creek watershed, which supplies over a million gallons of water daily to the Trinity and Edwards Aquifers—the primary drinking water sources for our region. Guests are welcomed into the stunning Texas Hill Country landscape, where they can engage in nature education, participate in meaningful community activities, and witness environmental research firsthand. By promoting water conservation, land stewardship, wildlife care, sustainability, planting, and harvest celebrations, The Cibolo fosters a deep sense of connection and belonging among all who visit.
