Vision

Groundwork San Diego - Chollas Creek envisions a future where our families share in governmental decision-making; receive fair and equitable investments in their communities; and enjoy healthy and climate safe neighborhoods.

Goals

1. 1.Groundwork is scaling its longstanding and highly-valued youth and family climate education program from a project area middle school to seven feeder schools and high school. We are scaling our forestry program by adding the installation of trees to mitigate the climate impacts of heat, flooding, and poor air quality.
2. 2.As disproportionate climate impacts bear down on our communities, we are designing and delivering programs to empower community voices and ensure climate resilience. Our community science projects, resident empowerment trainings, and blue green infrastructure projects are responding to new community priorities and accelerating community resilience.
3. 3.We are designing Chollas Creek restoration projects and are starting May 2026 the Phase 1 of the Federal Blvd Creek restoration project where 1400 linear feet of the creek will be naturalized to reduce flooding, and 300 trees will be planted with completion in 2027.
