Greyhound Adoption League of Texas Inc.

Mission

PLACING DOGS THAT ARE EX-RACING GREYHOUNDS, GREYHOUND MIXES, OR OTHER LARGE SIGHTHOUNDS AND OTHER LARGE SIGHTHOUNDS MIXES BY PROVIDING AN "ADOPTION" OF THE DOG TO A QUALIFIED INDIVIDUAL OR FAMILY

Vision

There is a need to place retired racing greyhounds and greyhounds bred for other purposes worldwide. Although the industry has dwindled in the US in recent years, racing continues in other countries and backyard breeders continue to breed for hunting purposes. GALT's aim is to help find long term, loving homes for these hounds as well as stray sighthounds. We also help place previously adopted hounds that are no longer wanted or able to be provided with care.

Goals

1.Enable greyhound adoptions across a broader geographical area within the United States by adding more chapters to serve the local population.
2.Undertake a thorough examination of all aspects of our organization to improve efficiency and expand our reach - finances, banking choices, partnerships with the Australian greyhound industry, eliminate unnecessary expenditures, enable donations to other animal-related nonprofits, improve and streamline our website to better serve our clientele.
3.Reinstate some of our pre-pandemic programs to reach more potential adopters. Continue to nurture relationships with the greyhound industry both here and abroad.
