Challenger Center for Space Science Education

Mission

Our mission is to engage students and teachers in dynamic, hands-on exploration and discovery opportunities that strengthen knowledge in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), inspire students to pursue careers in these fields, and provide an outlet to learn and apply important life skills.

Vision

Our vision is to build a scientifically literate public and shape our future leaders to help improve quality of life across the globe—not just through pragmatic teaching, but also by the power of vision, inspiration, and innovation.

Goals

1.Center Missions are space-themed simulation-based experiences led by trained Flight Directors at Challenger Learning Centers that mirror real space industry environments. We update them frequently to reflect current scientific concepts and keep them aligned with Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core State Standards.
2.We continually seek ways to grow our reach, whether that is building new Challenger Learning Centers or scaling our digital programs - Satellite Challenges - to reach more geographically diverse students.
3.In partnership with foundations and corporations, we have been and continue to improve our impact measurement systems and our ability to provide more frequent program updates to our educators. This will help us drive more student impact and run more efficient and effective program operations.
