Vision

The Lone Star Bleeding Disorders Foundation serves the bleeding disorders community of South Texas. We are based in Houston and our area includes McAllen, Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Austin, and El Paso. Our vision is very simple. We exist to ensure that every South Texan living with a bleeding disorder has what he/she needs to manage his/her medical condition successfully. This involves education/support groups, scholarships, financial assistance for emergencies, and advocacy initiatives.

Goals

1. 1.The LSBDF will continue to play an active role in the Texas Bleeding Disorders Coalition. We will host meetings with stakeholders and key advocates in the state, and keep legislators up to date on key issues affecting our community. We will also strive to keep the community informed about policies and changes to the Affordable Care Act which may affect their treatment choices.
2. 2.LSBDF will continue to provide support groups for Women/Girls, Spanish speaking families, New Families, Adult Men, and Teens. We will broaden our reach to these groups in more remote areas of our chapter by utilizing Area Coordinators, to provide more educational services in these areas.
3. 3.The Staff and Board of the Lone Star Bleeding Disorders Foundation will be active fundraisers for the organization. Staff will look for ways to keep events ‘fresh’, as well as be open to new fundraising opportunities. The Executive Director will continue to reach outside of the community to develop relationships with possible donors and supporters.
