Reading Partners

Mission

Learning to read is a civil right and the backbone of educational equity. Systemic racism has created social disparities and enduring barriers for generations of people of color. At Reading Partners, we use literacy to dismantle these injustices and to create more equitable educational opportunities and outcomes. We partner with K-4 students and their families, schools, community organizations, volunteers, and AmeriCorps members across the nation to provide individualized tutoring and other evidence-based literacy supports. We center students by fostering the development of lifelong literacy skills and confidence that will help them actualize their limitless potential.

Vision

Goals

1.Accelerate unfinished learning and reach new students by leveraging technology and utilizing evidence-based literacy practices. We developed an improved and interactive Reading Partners Connects online tutoring platform that will enable us to reach exponentially more students in new time slots, including after school— leading to 22% growth in direct tutoring by the 2026-27 school year.
2.We created an innovations and partnerships team that will establish relationships with at least two large national delivery partners and expand partnerships with organizations in our existing regions, growing to engage an additional 20,000 students by 2026-27.
3.We’re investing in numerous researchdriven transformations to support an additional 15,000 students by 2026-27. Among other actions, we are publishing our own books which will integrate a range of student identities, increasing access to at-home self-learning tools, expanding summer programming, and scaling to rural communities.
