Vision

Our grants program enables researchers to collect the vital data needed to compete for large sums of money from the National Institutes of Health and other agencies. By providing a bridge between talented scientists and funding institutions, we will greatly expand the number of quality studies on fibromyalgia. This will lead to more effective treatment for people with fibromyalgia and eventual, someday a cure for this painful and often disabling disease.

Goals

1. 1.Our organization's research grants program aims to fast-track medical discoveries on fibromyalgia that lead to a cure. We announce a new request for applications annually. Our focus is expanding research on the possible causes (i.e., physiological mechanisms), potential treatments, and diagnostic biomarkers for fibromyalgia – areas most likely to lead to a cure.
2. 2.Recruit new investigators into fibromyalgia research and expand the sums of money allocated to the disease by government institutions. After AFSA-funded researchers complete their projects, they can apply to large institutions to expand the scope of their work, which increases overall funding for the disease.
3. 3.Empower fibromyalgia patients with free information on the symptoms and treatments for the disease so that they can seek better quality care. In addition, help patients reap more from life by offering them a variety of self-help strategies, lifestyle changes, and daily coping methods.
