    Westminster Free Clinic

    Mission

Established in 2001 in Ventura County, CA, Westminster Free Clinic (WFC) is a volunteer-based charitable nonprofit organization. WFC’s mission is to strengthen the capacity of Ventura County’s low-income individuals and families to thrive by providing free essential health and health-supporting services, meeting immediate needs, and serving as a training site for students to explore careers in healthcare. WFC achieves its mission by: • providing early access to free volunteer-based healthcare and prevention services for low-income populations facing barriers to care, including poverty, lack of health insurance, transportation, language barriers, etc.; • meeting basic needs, including providing access to healthy food as medicine and economic supports (e.g., hygiene products, feminine products, household cleaning products, gently used clothing and household goods, etc.); • improving college readiness and healthcare career pathways for low-income high school students ages 14–17 through a two-year Teen Healthcare Training & Internship Program. For 25 years, WFC has been meeting the health needs of low-income, working-poor individuals and families in Ventura County. WFC was first established in 2001 in Thousand Oaks to serve East Ventura County. In 2020, a second clinic was opened in Oxnard to serve the Oxnard Plain, and in 2023, a third site was established in Santa Paula to serve the Santa Clara River Valley. WFC mobilizes over 700 volunteers—including healthcare professionals, community members, high school and college students—to deliver over 18,500 free, health and prevention services annually.
