Urban Scholar Academy

Mission

Urban Scholar Academy is a multi award-winning non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of urban K-12th grade youth through academic enrichment (Homework Club, Tutoring, Seasonal Camps & Film Academy).

Vision

Our vision is to ensure that all students, regardless of their socioeconomic background, have access to high-quality after-school programs. We aim to eliminate financial barriers by removing cost as a deterrent, thereby creating equal opportunities for educational enrichment and personal growth.

Goals

1.Since 2016, Urban Scholar Academy has provided individualized tutorial support, successfully conducting over 16,000 tutoring sessions to date. Our mission is to expand our services by offering free tutorial support in various subject areas to more than 100 students annually from the Inglewood and South Los Angeles area.
2.Urban Scholar College Prep Academy is the community’s response to provide equitable solutions for college preparedness among underserved students. Our program is designed to equip, and empower low-income high school students (sophomores/juniors) with the knowledge and skills to not only satisfy A-G requirements, but also acquire resources and develop the confidence to apply to college.
3.Urban Scholar Academy currently serves ninety-five students daily through our core programs. However, we have identified significant potential for growth if we can secure additional funding opportunities. Our primary objective is to obtain increased financial resources to enhance our operational capacity through strategic investments in personnel, technology, and facility upgrades.
