Rescue Pack
Mission
Established in 2016, Rescue Pack serves Illinois, Indiana, Southwest Michigan, and Wisconsin to address pet food insecurity by utilizing donated pet food and essential supplies and distributing them to shelters, rescues, and families in need. We partner with animal welfare and community organizations to ensure homeless pets receive consistent nutrition while supporting households experiencing financial hardship. By redirecting surplus products that would otherwise be discarded, we reduce waste, relieve pressure on local rescues, decrease avoidable surrenders to shelters, and help struggling families.
Vision
A region where no pet is surrendered due to a lack of food, animal welfare organizations are reliably supported, and no usable pet food or usable supplies are wasted.
Goals
- 1.Rescue Pack will continue to expand access to pet food assistance by serving more rescues, shelters, and community partners across Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Southwest Michigan, with a focus on rural and underserved organizations. We will strengthen community pet food support programs that help families care for their animals and avoid surrender.
- 2.We will build reliable supply channels of recoverable surplus pet food and supplies by developing long-term partnerships with manufacturers, retailers, distributors and grant-making organizations. By improving logistics, storage, inventory tracking, and distribution scheduling, donations can move efficiently from donors to animals while maintaining clear eligibility and accountability standards.
- 3.Rescue Pack will expand support for struggling families by partnering with donors beyond the traditional pet food industry. By recovering and distributing pet-adjacent goods and essential supplies, we can provide broader assistance that helps stabilize households, supports pet retention, and allows families to continue caring for their animals during periods of financial hardship.
