Mission

Mittens for Detroit collects, purchases, and distributes new, unused mittens and gloves to children, teens, and adults in need in and around Detroit, Michigan. With the community collection of pairs, we have distributed more than 375,000 new pairs through our network of about 800 Distribution Partners since our start in 2010.

Goals

1.We will add a second part-time staff - an Operations Manager - whose responsibility will be to work with the Collection and Distribution Partners, relieving the Executive Director of some tasks.
2.The Executive Director will be able to increase public awareness of our mission, our work, and the huge need for providing mittens and gloves to people in need in Metro Detroit.
3.We will assess the increased needs for and delivery of mittens and gloves at schools, as well as programs that serve the increasing number of refugees moving to Metro Detroit, engaging new partners.
