Miles4Migrants was established in 2016 with a noble mission: to assist families in reuniting with their loved ones quickly and without significant financial strain. The organization utilizes donated frequent flyer miles, credit card points, travel vouchers, and cash to facilitate the travel of vulnerable individuals affected by war, persecution, or climate disasters, enabling them to start anew in safety. As of June 2020, the UNHCR estimated over 79.5 million people were forcibly displaced worldwide, with over 26 million classified as refugees. This context underscores the critical need for organizations like Miles4Migrants, which provides vital support in bridging the financial gap for airfare for those who have the legal approval to migrate but lack the means to afford travel​​. Miles4Migrants was co-founded by Andy Freedman, Seth Stanton, and Nick Ruiz, who were driven by a shared passion for making a significant impact on the global refugee crisis and an expertise in maximizing the utility of points and miles for travel. Each founder brought a unique perspective and skill set to the organization, from technological development to a deep understanding of the points and miles system, which has been pivotal in the charity's ability to reunite families and offer new beginnings to those in need​​. The organization has grown to include a dedicated team and a board of directors, all committed to the mission of providing travel support to refugees and asylum seekers. Among the key figures are Glaydon de Freitas, the Executive Director with a background in law and human rights, and Mary Novak-Caskey, the Flight Team Manager with over three decades of experience in the travel industry. Their collective efforts have expanded the reach and impact of Miles4Migrants, demonstrating the power of community and shared humanity in addressing the challenges faced by displaced individuals across the globe​​.
