Friends of the Children - Chicago

Mission

Friends of the Children Chicago is a prevention and early intervention program impacting generational change by empowering youth who are facing the greatest obstacles through relationships with Professional Mentors for 12.5 years. No Matter What.

Vision

Ultimately, we aim to break generational cycles of poverty and violence. Through authentic relationships and 1:1 trauma-informed support from trained Professional Mentors, children and caregivers trust us and feel safe. This enables us to empower children to build the skills and relationships needed to thrive and to achieve age-appropriate, personal goals. Our Family and Community Engagement Specialists build strong relationships with our parents and caregivers, helping to support child safety, well-being and success. Following our 12.5 year program, children will go on to enroll in post-secondary education, serve our country, or enter the workforce. They will avoid early parenting and engagement with the juvenile justice system.

Goals

1.Serve Children Holistically: Strengthen and deliver responsive and research-driven programs for children, support their caregivers, and work with a network of school and community partnerships as we continue our service to the youth in our program and expand enrollment annually.
2.Love Our Talent: Empower an impassioned and loving staff while prioritizing a culture of inclusion and growth.
3.Amplify Our Impact: Build and nurture strong relationships in order to pursue sustainable funding and position Friends-Chicago as a thought leader in our area of influence.
