Donations did not suffer as a result of the pandemic. We did receive a PPP loan which helped cover staff costs. Overall, we did not see a negative financial impact.

Due to in-person programming restrictions, we were limited to the number of school and community programs we could perform.
How this organization adapted to changing conditions caused by COVID-19:
We developed virtual programming to assist with program operations, and we shifted much of our initiatives toward our digital awareness programs.

We continue to offer our virtual programming as an option for schools and businesses, and we utilize this to grow nationally.

The Kailee Mills Foundation contracted a nonprofit consultant to do a complete assessment of the organization, including the Board of Directors, leadership roles, fundraising, staff development, and program development and operations. During and post-assessment, the consultant works to advise and implement strategies, goals, and development opportunities for leadership and staff. The Executive Director contracted another nonprofit consultant to do an intensive 3-day training on growth and expansion, branding, communication, marketing, and public relations. Within the last 2 months, the Executive Director, Board President, and entire staff began an intensive individual and professional growth program. The Executive Director and Board President are also to attend two growth conferences annually. In addition, the Executive Director invests in reading materials for nonprofit leadership and development, as well as reading materials and online courses to develop all team members.

The Kailee Mills Foundation partners with first responder agencies, the Texas Department of Transportation and other governmental agencies, other road safety nonprofit organizations, health organizations, schools, and businesses on road and seat belt safety initiatives, campaigns, and efforts in order to reduce fatalities and injuries on roadways. The Kailee Mills Foundation is in many chambers, safety coalitions, and advocacy groups in order to collaborate and combine resources to expand our reach in an effort to save more lives through seat belt safety awareness.
The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
Over the last year, the Kailee Mills Foundation has been able to utilize more virtual and digital programming which was created during the pandemic in order to continue serving its mission. These avenues of delivering our programs have allowed further expansion of the organization outside of its initial service area. From a fundraising standpoint, we have diversified our revenue streams to not rely heavily on one income area. In addition, we have assessed our service areas in order to ensure our programs are serving all demographics, including low-income areas and areas of high non-seat belt use.
