The nonprofit organization presents evidence of strategic thinking and goal setting through sharing their most important strategic goals.
Goal One: Boston City Youth Ballet offers free, intensive training for ages 8–18 through three levels and 5+ hours of weekly classes plus rehearsals leading to performances with City Ballet Ensemble. We recruit dancers from diverse backgrounds, with a special emphasis on Black and brown dancers, and provide school programs, library outreach, Y’ALL Can Dance!, and a brand-new collaboration with Project Step.
Goal Two: Our Professional Dance Company presents two full-length shows and 4–5 smaller performances yearly, paying dancers and providing pointe shoes. We offer weekly advanced classes, guest Masterclasses, and our Apprentice Company (City Ballet Ensemble) bridges student training to professional performance alongside the main company.
Goal Three: Anthony Williams’ Urban Nutcracker is CBB’s annual holiday show blending ballet with hip hop, tap, jazz, and flamenco to a mix of Ellington, Tchaikovsky, and original music. Dancers of all ages perform (including dancers from our Professional Dance Company), and 2,800 free tickets go to community groups. Special shows include Autism-Friendly and LGBT-focused performances.
