Mission

We foster a sustainable community to support the well-being, empowerment, and self-determination of food- and housing-insecure residents in the greater Long Beach area with dignity and compassion. We envision LBCT as the platform of a cooperative, mutual-aid society where everyone involved gives, receives, and takes care of one another to first meet basic needs, then collectively create greater self-sufficiency for individuals, families, and communities.

Goals

1.To achieve our program goals, LBCT actively seeks funding to sustain operations, cover staff expenses (which increased due to heightened demand), and acquire necessary food and distribution supplies
2.LBCT is dedicated to continually innovating and finding better ways to serve those in dire economic situations, with a goal to help a wider group escape such circumstances
3.Without the means to stockpile, low-income Angelenos face greater risk during disasters. After wildfires swept LA, our lines filled with stories of grandparents drying meat, pickling vegetables, and getting through with what they had. LBCT is bringing that knowledge back, teaching food preservation skills, enabling families to stretch what they have, waste less, and prepare for the next disaster.
