Each employee has an annual budget for professional development. In addition, we have participated in a months-long DEI program, a gender inclusivity workshop, and a disability inclusion program.

To carry out our mission, we integrate focused issue advocacy campaigns, intentional base building, leadership development, targeted education efforts, and holding our elected representatives accountable for their decisions. We encourage civic engagement through calls to action, voter registration efforts, conservation vote tracking, and supporting ballot initiatives that our important to our conservation efforts.

We improved our communications, keeping the community informed while we could not be together. This did not just include our work, but work of our partners, notices of important town and county meeting, calls to action, and local news related to wildlife, public lands, and community planning. Retaining talented staff is difficult in any year, but certainly with the uncertain financial climate the pandemic caused and also the critical housing shortage in our community. To respond, we asked our donors to renew or increase their support. We were very fortunate they did, allowing us to keep a full staff and make our team's salaries more equitable. The biggest challenge our organization faced in the last year was a change in leadership. Our executive director stepped down after many successes with the Alliance. Our Operations Director, who has been with the organization for 8 years, stepped in as Interim Executive Director. We are fortunate to have a passionate and talented staff and financial security, to ensure our success into the future.
